Probably the most famous bridge in Spain, the Puente Nuevo is incredible to see. Although it is the newest bridge in Ronda, don't assume it is “new”. It was actually built in the 18th century and is a whopping 120 meters high.
Local folklore claims that the city of Ronda was once a “big” city, without a canyon in the middle. It is said that the residents of Ronda never got along and continually fought in the streets of the city. To stop this, God decided to split the city in two with a huge cannon, helping to alleviate the constant arguments.
After many years apart (and we assume fewer arguments), the neighbors decided to build Puente Nuevo, taking more than 40 years.
